Winter workshop: in Mykolaiv, students will develop a “new vision” for Vitrylnyi square

From January 15 to February 2, students of the Mykolaiv Construction College will be developing a “new vision” for the Vitrylnyi square. They will join forces with experts from France, Estonia and Ukraine.

According to Yevhen Polyakov, chief architect of Mykolaiv, this format allows young people to gain new knowledge, valuable experience and realize their creative potential. In particular, in the context of Ukraine’s recovery and development, it is important to have qualified architects, engineers and builders.

“Thanks to our partners from France, Estonia, and Ukraine, we will develop a new concept for the Sailing Square in accordance with the latest trends in urban design and urbanism”, said Yevhen Polyakov.

Students will prepare their own projects to be presented and evaluated by experts.

  • Andriy Shtender, architect, lecturer at Lviv Polytechnic;
  • Martin Duplantier, chairman of the French Union of Architects, Engineers and Customers (AMO), founder of Martin Duplantier Architectes;
  • Solomiya Shcheholska, architect, associate professor at Lviv Polytechnic;
  • Denys Girenko, chief artist of Narva, Estonia;
  • Yevhen Polyakov, chief architect of Mykolaiv.

*The Winter Workshop is an intensive learning process based on teamwork, where theory is provided in the background and immediately applied in practice.
