This year, Mykolaiv is taking a big green step forward! Our city has received funding from the Bloomberg Philanthropies Youth Climate Action Fund for $100,000 to support youth-led climate initiatives. As part of the project, a competition was announced, where people submitted 26 projects, 18 of which won. They will be implemented in 2025.
“Mykolaiv is changing, and these changes begin with the initiatives of young people who care. Together, we are not just greening our city – we are creating a new environmental culture. I am proud of everyone who joined us. I thank the partners and young teams for their love for their hometown,” commented Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych.
One of the winning projects, Eco Mobile Park, is a small mobile park at the yacht club, says project manager Yevhen. They plan to buy maple trees that will grow in mobile pots.
“Either the park will have fixed benches, but we will be able to move our trees. Or the benches will not be fixed. Then we will be able to move the park completely to the yacht club building in case of force majeure. Six benches and three trash bins,” he added.

Landscaping, educational events, a dog walking park, and a greenhouse at the zoo are changing the look of Mykolaiv and improving the quality of life for its residents. We will tell you more about the projects later. Together, we can make a difference in the climate and build a cleaner and better city for future generations.
The project is implemented by the Mykolaiv Development Agency as part of the global Youth Climate Action Fund project with the support of Bloomberg Philanthropies and United Cities and Local Governments.
Happy Earth Day, Mykolaiv!
