On May 6, the event brought together young people who are sincerely interested in the development of their community, namely representatives of youth councils, youth spaces, student self-government, and NGOs. Youth Focal Points trainers/coordinators: social entrepreneur, head of the NGO “Vzirets” Tetiana Vyaznikova and communications specialist of the Mykolaiv Development Agency Maksym Misailov.
Participants had the opportunity to:
- learn more about the advisory role of youth councils
- understand the mechanisms of youth participation in decision-making
- get acquainted with the work of the working group on public safety and recovery;
- share their own experience.
At the beginning of the event, UNDP representatives gave parting words and motivated the youth to act.

The atmosphere was lively and productive – the participants asked questions, discussed, and most importantly, jointly developed a list of areas for further research into the needs of local youth.
Dmytro Shchogolev, chairman of the Mykolaiv Youth Council and member of the working group, said that the workshop was not just about learning, but about motivation to act.
“Our voice is also important. Youth participation can really be systemic and influential. It is important to note that our experience was heard, that each participant felt his or her value in this process. I thank everyone who joined us – we are not just learning, we are creating a new culture of interaction in the community. I am grateful to the organizers for the space for dialogue and development!” he added.
We thank all the participants, partners and organizers for their inspired cooperation! New steps, new initiatives, and new changes that we create together are ahead.

The event was organized within the framework of the Youth Focal Points | Youth Coordinators in Community Security and Recovery Working Groups program under the EU-UNDP flagship partnership “EU4Recovery – Empowering Communities in Ukraine” and with the financial support of the Government of Denmark.
