The project “Youth Climate Action” has been completed, during which our young people were able to implement their own ideas to improve conditions in Mykolaiv

uth Climate Action Fund. “This is really one of the achievements, because we and our projects were chosen among all the cities in the world,” says Oleksandr Senkevych, Mayor of Mykolaiv.

We are talking about the following initiatives:

  • Druzhby Square on Inzhenerna Street – landscaping and arrangement of a part of the square.
  • “Green Space” at 2 Slobidska St. – planting trees, radial benches and rainwater collection.
  • The area between 6 and 9 Slobidska Street along Tsentralnyi Avenue – rain gardens, parklets, protective grates for trees.
  • “Arch Garden” at 2b Soborna Street – a decorative arch and landscaping.
  • Help point on the bicycle route near the House of Fleet Officers – installation of technical means to improve bicycle infrastructure.
  • Green area near 48 Mira Ave. – landscaping, parklets, rain gardens.
  • 3 Slobidska Street, near the building 33 – rain gardens and landscaping.
  • The corner of Shoseina and 8 Bereznya streets along Tsentralnyi Avenue – landscaping and rainwater collection.
  • 1 Slobidska Street, 2 – tree planting, radial benches, rainwater collection.

It’s nice that Mykolaiv youth want to be involved in improving life in Mykolaiv. They have ideas and successfully implement them. Now the city has more places to relax.

I also want to note that not a single penny of budget funds was spent. Mykolaiv has received funding and technical assistance from the Bloomberg Philanthropies Youth Climate Action Fund in the amount of USD 50 thousand to implement youth climate initiatives,” said the mayor.

The project is being implemented by the Mykolaiv Development Agency and the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning of the Mykolaiv City Council together with Pilot, Mykolaiv Parks, and Mykolaivoblteploenergo within the framework of the Youth Climate Action Fund, with the support of Bloomberg Philanthropies.
