The winners of the social entrepreneurship competition, who combine business activities with solving social problems, received funding and started implementing their projects.
Below, we will tell you what has already been done:
✅ The NGO “VZIRETS”, which launched the “Sample” First Aid Courses in Mykolaiv, has already received the necessary equipment and supplies, and signed contracts with contractors. Thanks to these courses, residents of the region can gain life-saving knowledge and skills.⠀
✅ Anzhela Zakharova, who is implementing the You Are Special project in Mykolaiv, has purchased equipment to implement rehabilitation services for children with special educational needs and plans to conduct art therapy sessions for parents who need psychological relief.
✅ Kateryna Pisna has already purchased and installed two lifts, purchased special steering wheel devices for people with disabilities, and is waiting for the rest of the equipment to open the service station as part of the Kardan Car Service Station project. It will provide a unique service for converting cars to manual operation for people with disabilities.
✅ Iryna Hubanova with the RAI Color Center project purchased the necessary equipment and supplies and ordered advertising services to promote her social business. The center will train women in difficulty and IDPs in the coloring profession free of charge.⠀
✅ The Voznesensk Charitable Foundation “No Limits”, which launched the ADAPT project in Voznesensk – adaptive sports for vulnerable groups of the population – enlisted the support of local authorities, who allocated funds to purchase an air conditioner, air recuperator, and flooring for the gym. At the same time, they began purchasing sports equipment necessary for adaptive sports training. This project is relevant for the community, as more than 3,000 people with disabilities live here.⠀
✅ Oleksandr Kovryha, who is implementing the project “Creating a textile printing workshop ”Kasta Yavkine” in the Bashtanka community, purchased and installed the equipment. The workshop will create unique products by printing on textiles with the addition of hand-painted clothing and souvenirs. In addition, the project aims to help local youth socialize and discover their talents through creative workshops.⠀
✅ Olha Bandura is preparing the premises and purchasing the necessary equipment to equip the kitchen with her project “Molecular Kitchen at Funprostir Family Cafe” in Mykolaiv. The first master class for children with disabilities is scheduled for November. Information about it will be posted on the institution’s Instagram page.
✅ Yuriy Beshevets, who is implementing the Garage District Car Repair Shop project in the Halytsynivka community, has purchased equipment and is preparing to open the only service station in the community. It will employ local residents and IDPs to provide maintenance, tire fitting, and car diagnostics services.
In September, the Pivden Adult Learning and Education Center, a non-governmental organization, together with the Mykolaiv Development Agency, organized a social entrepreneurship project competition. Eight winners received funding of UAH 410 thousand each to implement their business ideas. These projects will help solve social problems in four communities of the region, improve the economic situation, and create new jobs for vulnerable groups.
The project “Social Entrepreneurship in Mykolaiv” is implemented by the NGO Adult learning and education center “South” together with the Mykolaiv Development Agency with the support of the USAID Ukraine – USAID Ukraine Ukraine Confidence Building Initiative (UCBI).
