The Office for Recovery and Development held a meeting with representatives of UNOPS and the Danish Office in Mykolaiv to discuss the implementation of the project “Restoration of Communities and Social Infrastructure: Territorially Oriented Approach in Mykolaiv”.
As part of the program, experts are restoring damaged apartment buildings. These include common areas, entrance groups, and the installation of windows, including in apartments. The initiative also involves repairing shelters in schools and arranging sports grounds in the city’s neighborhoods.
It should be emphasized that with the support of partners, the city is restoring a historical monument, the First Ukrainian Mykola Arkas Gymnasium. In the fall of 2022, the building, which survived two world wars, was damaged by Russian shelling.
Now the first stage of work is underway, the stabilization phase: old structures are being dismantled to build new ones. As a result, the building will be safe and usable, and there will be no holes in the facade or roof.

The project is being implemented with the financial support of the Kingdom of Denmark.
