Promotion of the city and region through art: album presented

November 6, 2024

The Mykolaiv Development Agency, in partnership with the MY ART Platform, digitized 430 exhibits of graphics from the second half of the 20th century from the collections of the Mykolaiv Regional Art Museum and the Mykolaiv Regional Museum of Local Lore, most of which had never been exhibited to the general public before. The resulting digital copies were transformed into animated images, a virtual gallery, and presented in a printed catalog.

The results of the project “Digital Museum Collection: Graphics” were presented on Tuesday, November 5, in the music lounge of the art museum.

According to the organizers, cultural heritage can be a tool for popularizing individual cities and entire regions.

“Artistic works or the personality of an artist can become points of attraction and a magnet that will be associated with a certain region. Therefore, the popularization of this cultural heritage highlights Mykolaiv on the cultural map of the country… Why the emphasis on graphics? Because it is less noticeable. Museums keep it in large quantities. And it is not always exhibited in museum halls. Graphics are little known, because more attention has always been paid to painting,” says Evgen Gomonjuk, a culture expert at the Mykolaiv Restoration and Development Office.

The project is implemented with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation.
