This weekend, on April 20, Mykolaiv hosted a charity event called “Tree is the Life of the Community”. This initiative was aimed at restoring the city’s green areas, which have recently suffered significant losses due to various factors, including the consequences of military operations in Ukraine.

In particular, 16 pine trees, 20 linden trees and two catalpa trees were planted in the coastal zone of the Namyv neighbourhood.

The charity event was organized by the NGO “Center for Tourism Development and Ecological Preservation ”Save the World” with the support of Mykolaiv City Council and Mykolaiv Development Agency.

The event was also joined by employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Mykolaiv Oblast, students of Mykolaiv National Agrarian University, the Mykolaiv brewery of AB InBev Efes Ukraine, Charitable Foundation TMEK, the Youth Center for Scientific Activities, Mykolaiv Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support, and other city residents.

“It is the preservation of green spaces and their increase in the territory of southern Ukraine that will reduce the risk of what may happen in the future, our challenges in the future,” summarized Viktor Sikalenko, director of the Mykolaiv Development Agency.

This joint initiative demonstrates the importance of joining forces to create a healthy and environmentally friendly environment for our city.
