At the end of February 2025, Mykolaiv received humanitarian aid in the form of heaters from the Solidarity Charitable Foundation and Leroy Merlin Ukraine. After the latest attack by the Russian army on the Mykolaiv thermal power plant, which left about 100,000 people without heating in the -10°C cold, the foundation supported the city and its residents.
During the first international forum, Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Solidarity Foundation.
The philanthropists donated 104 Japanese Zibro heaters to the city, which are designed to heat rooms ranging from 55 to 120 square meters. The devices run on liquid fuel but have an electric ignition from batteries. The heaters were also supplied with 1545 liters of fuel.
“After the recent massive attacks on Ukraine, our foundation received several requests from partners – state administrations and charitable foundations working in the frontline areas. All of them asked for help with heating, as the average daily temperature reached almost 10 degrees below zero. Our strategic partner is Leroy Merlin Ukraine hypermarket chain, thanks to them we managed to provide assistance in the form of portable heating stoves and fuel for them in a very short time”, — commented Mathieu-Marie Arden, Chairman of the Solidarity Foundation.
The humanitarian aid will be accepted on the balance sheet of the city’s material reserve and will be provided as needed to those who need it.
