“16 Days Against Violence”: Mykolaiv students learned about the purpose of the campaign and ways to prevent violence

December 6, 2024

As part of the 16 Days Against Violence campaign, we held a meeting with students from Mykolaiv universities to talk about the purpose of the campaign, the importance of talking about violence, and how to prevent it.

We also played the game “World of Communities: Accelerator”, which helped participants develop teamwork, decision-making and community resource management skills. Young people aged 18-35 gained valuable experience and better understood how the community functions.

In addition, we donated three board games to the youth policy department to support their work with young people:

  • “What’s Behind Your Door” was created to write art therapy fairy tales so that everyone could find answers to important questions and identify ways to solve them.
  • “Let’s Talk” helps to develop trust and effective communication.
  • “Tell me everything” creates a safe space for open conversations and support.

The 16 Days Against Violence campaign is extremely important because it draws attention to the problem of violence in society, which often remains hidden. Our goal is to raise awareness, debunk myths and show that support and solutions are available to everyone.

The activities are implemented by the working group on public safety and social cohesion within the framework of the project “Network of Working Groups on Public Safety and Social Cohesion”, implemented by the NGO “Center for Adult Learning and Education “Pivden” with the support of UNDP Ukraine / ПРООН в Україні in cooperation with the Mykolaiv Development Agency and the Department of Youth Policy of the Mykolaiv City Council.
