We visited four hospitals with the delegation to see firsthand how the work is progressing.
City Children’s Hospital – two new elevators are already in operation, and the elevator shafts have been repaired. The ward for children and adolescents in difficult life circumstances has been renovated: it now offers treatment, sessions with counselors and psychologists, and opportunities for education.
Regional Hospital – the neurosurgery department has been completely renovated. New ventilation with a laminar flow ceiling, heating, fire safety systems, and oxygen to every bed.
The hospital in the Ingulsky District now has a new physical therapy and rehabilitation ward. It can accommodate 20 patients at a time and features medical equipment, accessible restrooms, and Wi-Fi.
The hospital in the Central District has a 50-bed metabolic disorders ward now in operation. We are upgrading the utilities, installing a staff call system, and repairing the roof.
Plus new equipment: analyzers, X-ray machines, laparoscopic stands, and operating tables.
The project is being implemented by UNOPS with support from the Government of the Kingdom of Denmark and Novo Nordisk. The city is providing support through the Mykolaiv Development Agency in collaboration with the City Council’s Department of Health.
The delegation includes: Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych, Deputy Mayors Serhiy Korenev and Anatoliy Petrov, Director of the Mykolaiv Development Agency Ihor Filippov, Head of the Health Department Iryna Shamray, Deputy Head of Mission at the Danish Embassy Jakob Nielsen, Head of the Danish Embassy Office Jakob Torrild Hansen, and Teresa Molero Rodríguez from UNOPS.
The goal is simple: to ensure that Mykolaiv residents can receive treatment and recover at home, under normal conditions.
