Two adapted Opel Combo Life vehicles (WAV) were handed over to the city’s social services. They will help make essential services more accessible to those who have difficulty getting around the city on their own.
One vehicle was given to the City Center for Comprehensive Rehabilitation for Children and People with Disabilities. Thanks to this, specialists will be able to visit children in various districts of Mykolaiv and provide assistance at home, particularly as part of early intervention services.
The second vehicle was handed over to the Department of Labor and Social Protection. It will be used to transport residents – particularly those from remote areas – to hospitals, social protection facilities, and other necessary institutions.
Each vehicle is equipped with a ramp for access, a lowered floor, and a secure restraint system for wheelchairs and passengers.
The vehicles were purchased with financial support from Novo Nordisk and implemented by UNOPS as part of the project “Strengthening the Health Care System in Mykolaiv, Ukraine.”
The Mykolaiv Development Agency supported this process on behalf of the city – from communicating with partners to coordinating the handover of the vehicles. This is one example of how international support translates into concrete solutions for the residents of Mykolaiv.
