Platform MY ART team, in collaboration with the Mykolaiv Development Agency, presented the fifth and final album in the ‘Digital Museum Collection’ series, created with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation. In total, more than 300 works from the collections of Mykolaiv museums have been digitised.
This year, the project focused on 20th-century painting, from the classics to representatives of the South Ukrainian school. It is a vivid selection of works that reflects the richness and diversity of the region’s artistic heritage, with over 300 works in total. The largest painting in the collection measures two square metres.
‘This album is not just a catalogue, but a way to show how much interesting stuff is stored in the collections. After all, today the world’s attention is focused on Mykolaiv — and it is not only people or architecture that should tell about the city, but also works of art that shape its face and identity,’ said cultural development expert Evgen Gomonjuk.

Half of the album’s print run has already been distributed to art and local history museums, art libraries, and educational institutions. The rest was given to partners and museums participating in the project: the Vereshchagin Mykolaiv Regional Art Museum and the Mykolaiv Regional Local History Museum, as well as representatives of cultural and educational institutions in Mykolaiv who were invited to the presentation.
Serhii Rosliakov, director of the art museum, noted: ‘The digitisation of museum collections opens up new opportunities for exhibition. Anyone who wishes to do so can now view what is stored in museums. This is a new stage in the development of museum work!’
