Today, on January 26, 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark Lars Løkke Rasmussen arrived in Mykolaiv on an official visit. In the morning, the Danish delegation held a working meeting at the City Recovery and Development Office. The meeting was attended by Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych, Head of Mykolaiv Regional State Administration Vitaliy Kim, and Head of the Regional Council Anton Tabunschyk.

During the meeting, the parties discussed cooperation at the level of Denmark – Mykolaiv – Mykolaiv region. Oleksandr Senkevych thanked the Danish Government for its fruitful cooperation and assistance to the city in its reconstruction.
The delegation also visited the National Shipbuilding University, where Lars Løkke Rasmussen and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba met with students.

After that, the Office of the Danish Embassy in Ukraine was officially opened in Mykolaiv. The flags of Denmark and Ukraine were raised by Lars Løkke Rasmussen and Dmytro Kuleba at the Embassy’s office.
According to the participants of the meeting, the official opening of the Chancellery demonstrates Denmark’s faith in our victory and reconstruction. This step will intensify cooperation with local authorities, organizations and communities. The office will also become a regional focal point that will facilitate the arrival of Danish companies in Mykolaiv and the region, creating new opportunities for cooperation and investment.
“This is, without exaggeration, a historic event. This is not only the Danish footprint and focus on helping Mykolaiv. It is also an example for other countries that want to put their support for Ukraine on a systematic basis. Therefore, I thank you for your leadership, I thank you for your historicity and for setting an example,” said Dmytro Kuleba, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, addressing his Danish counterpart.
The Minister emphasized that it is not just about rebuilding the country after the war. They are discussing steps and actions that can be taken right now. Kuleba reminded that Denmark already has successful business projects with Mykolaiv region, which shows that it is possible and necessary to do business with Ukraine right now.

The Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs assured of his support for Ukraine on the entire path of fighting Russian aggression.
“We are ready to assist in creating a better future for your region, because together we can achieve more,” said Lars Løkke Rasmussen.
Oleksandr Senkevych also emphasized the historic nature of today’s events.
“We continue our cooperation with Denmark. The Kingdom of Denmark has been our partner and is becoming more and more our assistant in the reconstruction and survival of Mykolaiv during the war. No other city in Ukraine has such cooperation as Mykolaiv has with Denmark. I want each of you to be proud of the fact that today Mykolaiv is not only heard locally, but also internationally, rising to the highest levels of cooperation,” Senkevych addressed the citizens.
